Full Pleated Card

Pleated Card Linda Bauwin

Today's Creative Fold Video features what I am calling a Full Pleated Card.  You may remember the card I did a few weeks back that I called a Pleated Card.  Well the pleat was just on one side of the bottom of the card.  Today's card the pleat is across the whole bottom of the card.

The sample above is the card I did before the video.  Well while I was doing the video I had a senior moment, seem to be having those lots these days, and put adhesive on the wrong side of designer series paper.    Well watch the video and compare it to this card and tell me which you like better.

The size of the designers series paper measures 3" x 11".  Now this size of paper and the pleats can be used on a several different sizes of cards.  As you will see in the video, I fold a large portion of the pleat around to the back of the card.  So if you do bigger cards, these measurements will work for your card size too.

You take the 3" x 11" and you score at 1.5", 2", 3", 3.5", 4.5", 5", 6". 6.5", 7.5", 8", 9" & 9 .5.  Then I measured up on the two short sides by 1.5" and on one side I cut from the 1.5" mark to the 5" score line.  On the other side I cut from the 1.5" mark to the 6" score line.

This card is another great way to show off both sides of our Designer Series Paper.  Don't forget to let me know if you like the card above or the one in the video.

Beautiful card, the sample card and the video card weren't the same though. The sample showed the mint macaron peeking out under both sides of the pleat, but only on one side with the video card. Just wondering if the directions were correct, and there was a miss cut.
Congratulations on earning your Million dollar sales award.

If you watch the video you will see that I glued the small stripe of designer series paper on the wrong side which gave the card a hole new look.

I am making partial folds for Mother's Day cards; love this, it is so much better. 10 cards done, 20 to go!

Julee – It's the way she folded – she started at one side & went all the way to the other side, folding the pleats in the same direction. To get the peek of color on both sides, you have to fold from the outside edges to the middle, so each side the pleats are folded in the opposite direction.

Linda, Love your video; but mine didn't turn out like your card that you have at the beginning. How can the center be 5 when it is a 11 in piece? The sample card shows two peaks near the middle peaking out exactly the same on each side; but the one you did on the video only has one peak. Are the peaks and fold scores correct? Just trying to figure out what the difference is; as I like your sample card better with the two peaks looking equal. Help. Thanks so much. Hugs, Gloria

The paper is wider than the card, you wrap the extra around the card, as shown in the video. The two cards are just folded (mountain -valley) different but I did the same score lines. Hope that helps

No were did you tape the two pieces together.
Your card did not show the two different papers making the pleat.!
    I don't get it.

Did you watch the video? The full pleat wraps around the card and the thin strip adheres on the top of the pleats. That's it.

Just like Linda above, mine doesn't turn out correct either. Am trying to make this as a Mother's Day card and I am stumped. Sure would appreciate some help. Thanks.

What are you having issues with? It will be longer and wrap around the card. You can change the mountain and valley folds (scoring is the same) to get different looks. My picture and my sample have different valley and mountain folds.

I love this technique and am going to give it a try! Thank you for the video, Linda.

Vicki, she used double-sided paper (different designs on each side). Is that what you are confused about? Hope this helps! : )
