So glad you joined out blog hop. We are looking at Masterful Masking, that is highlighted on pages 124 & 125 of Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Catalog. The masking techniques help you building layered scenes, and help you add color to your handmade cards and crafts. When doing a masking technique the number one product to have is Masking Paper. I used this paper two different ways.

First, I took the Masking Paper and created a stencil with the dies from the Changing Leaves Bundle, These dies are from the Online Exclusive Product Line found in my Online Store. You will want to keep both the negative image, and the die-cut images, as they create two different masked looks, When I use masking paper with my dies, I keep the pieces with my dies. That way I can use them over and over again. I used the negative image die-cut on my first card, with my blending brushes to add color to create an interesting background.

For my second card, I used my die-cut leaves from the masking paper, and placed them on my Very Vanilla Card Stock. With my Blending Brush in Cajun Craze and Wild Wheat Ink, I sponged around the die-cuts to get a totally different background. I then stamped where the masking paper.

Which masking technique do you like better? Now let’s go see what the other’s have created with this Masking Technique. If you just bussed over from Kim Baker’s post and need to go back, or if you want to keep buzzing by over to Lisa Brown’s post, click on the buttons below.

Excellent techniques. I like where you die cut the leaf frames and used the negative to sponge color. Thanks for sharing.
Great technique! I forget to use the die cuts to mask!
Wow! They both are lovely, and I’m so fond of sponging or blending…and they both have that! Lucky for me I have this bundle.
Thanks Linda!

I keep forgetting to use the masking paper to make stencils. Thanks for the reminder!
