A Scenic Coastal Fun Fold Card That Captures a Sunset

Fancy Fold Card Videos· May-August Stampin' Up Catalog

Let the Scenic Coastal Designer Series Do all the work on your cards
Scenic Coastal Designer Series Paper

There are times when a piece of Designer Series Paper is so beautiful that you simply need to let it do the work—and that is certainly true of the Scenic Coastal Designer Series Paper!

The gorgeous colors in this paper create the look of a sunset reflecting across the water. With the deep blues, warm oranges and beautiful reds, it almost looks like a hand-painted scene. I knew it would be perfect for a Fun Fold Card that allows the scenery to continue across several panels.

When the card is closed, the two front panels come together behind the vellum belly band. The greeting, “Wishing You a Lifetime of Joy,” makes this card perfect for a wedding, anniversary or any special occasion.

But the real surprise comes when you remove the belly band and open the card!

One breathtaking sheet of paper makes this Fun Fold shine

Inside, the additional center panel reveals even more of that spectacular sunset. The “You brighten my day” greeting works beautifully with the glowing sun reflecting across the water.

This is what I love about Fun Fold Cards. They give us so many opportunities to showcase our beautiful Designer Series Papers in unexpected ways. Even though this card looks impressive, the cutting and scoring are quite simple.

Scenic Coastal Fun Fold Measurements

Willow White Two-Tone Cardstock Card Base

  • Cut one piece at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.
  • Score at 2 1/8″ and 3″ from both ends.

An easy way to do this is to score at 2 1/8″ and 3″, turn the cardstock around, and repeat those same two scores from the opposite end.

Center Willow White Cardstock Piece

  • Cut one piece at 3″ x 11″.
  • Score at 5 1/2″.

Scenic Coastal Designer Series Paper

  • One piece at 2 3/4″ x 5 1/4″.
  • Four pieces at 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″.

Coordinating Cardstock Mats

  • One piece of Blueberry Bushel Two-Tone Cardstock 2 7/8″ x 5 3/8″.
  • Four pieces of Blueberry Bushel Two-Tone Cardstock 2″ x 5 3/8″.

When cutting the Scenic Coastal Designer Series Paper, pay attention to the portions of the design you want featured on each panel. This beautiful paper has so much movement that every section creates a slightly different view.

I added the die-cut bird silhouettes to carry the coastal theme through the entire card. The greetings were stamped on coordinating Balmy Blue Cardstock, and a few bright Sunset Sparkle Sequins added just the right touch of sparkle to the belly band.

Don’t Forget the Paper Sale!

Stampin’ Up! is offering 15% off select paper during August, making this a wonderful time to stock up. I used Two-Tone Cardstock for this project, and the sale is also a great opportunity to check your supply of Designer Series Paper and coordinating cardstock.

Winter crafting will be here before we know it, so why not fill in the gaps in your paper collection while you can save?

You will find all the cutting, scoring and assembly instructions in today’s video. I’ll show you how the card opens, how the center piece is added and how all those beautiful Scenic Coastal panels come together.

I hope this card inspires you to pull out a favorite scenic paper and turn it into a Fun Fold Card of your own. After all, creating Cards From the Heart should be easy, enjoyable and just a little unexpected!
