Accordion Fold Card with Hot Foil Leaves

Fancy Fold Card Videos· Stampin' Foil System· Stampin' Up! Sept-Dec Mini Catalog

29 Sep
Let your fall cards shine with hot foil and the Lustrous Leaves Hot Foil Dies
Lustrous Leaves Hot Foil Dies

The front of this fall card sparkles with copper foil and colorful leaves, but the real surprise comes when you open it: an accordion fold inside! I love how the hot foil catches the light each time the card moves.

For the front, I embossed a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with the Rustic Check 3D Embossing Folder and my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. I lightly brushed a Cajun Craze ink pad over the raised pattern to bring out the texture, then mounted the panel on Cajun Craze cardstock.

The focal point is an oval made with Framed & Fabulous Hot Foil Dies and Copper Foil. I made the outlined leaves with Silver Opal Foil and Cajun Craze cardstock, then used the remaining copper foil from the oval to cut the solid leaves. The “Thanks” greeting is from the Simple Leaves stamp set. A few Adhesive-Backed Metallic Gems add the finishing sparkle.

Measurements for the card front

  • Very Vanilla card base: 5-1/2″ × 8-1/2″, scored at 4-1/4″
  • Very Vanilla embossed panel: 3-3/4″ × 5″
  • Cajun Craze layer: 3-7/8″ × 5-1/8″
  • Very Vanilla for the hot-foil oval: 2-1/2″ × 2-1/2″
  • Very Vanilla for the “Thanks” greeting: 1/2″ × 2-1/2″
The Buffalo Check Hot Foil Die combined with the Tile Garden Dies adds a great surprise to the inside of this card

And then comes the surprise inside! I used the Buffalo Check Hot Foil Die with Copper Foil and cut the foiled design with the Garden Tile Square Dies. More Silver Opal foiled leaves carry the design through the accordion fold. The inside verse is also from the Simple Leaves stamp set, stamped in Cajun Craze.

Watch the video to see how easily the accordion fold comes together and where I placed the foiled pieces. Be sure to look at the inside photo, too—that’s where this card reveals its little surprise!
