Today's Fun Fold Card is an Open Bay Window Card
Sunflower Fields Suite Collection

Today’s Tuesday Fun Fold is an Open Bay Window Fun Fold Card filled with warm fall colors and beautiful sunflower details.

This Open Bay Window Fun Fold shows off the beautiful Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper

This fold looks impressive when opened and folds down nicely for mailing. The bridge pieces across the top and bottom create the open bay window effect, while the center panel gives you plenty of room for a greeting.

Be sure to watch the video for the exact placement of the cardstock panels and bridge pieces. Seeing this card come together makes the construction much easier to understand!

Cardstock and Paper Measurements

Very Vanilla Cardstock

  • One piece measuring 5-1/2″ x 10″
    • Score at 1-3/4″ and 3-3/8″ from both ends.
  • Two pieces measuring 3/4″ x 10″
    • Score both pieces at 1-3/4″ and 3-3/8″ from both ends.
  • One inside center panel measuring 3″ x 5-1/4″.
  • One piece measuring 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ for the hot-foiled and die-cut label.

Calypso Coral Cardstock

  • One piece measuring 2″ x 3″ for the two die-cut flowers.

Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper

  • Two pieces measuring 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″.
  • Two pieces measuring 1-3/8″ x 5-1/4″.
  • Two pieces measuring 1/2″ x 3″.
  • Four pieces measuring 1/2″ x 1-1/2″.

Step-by-Step Directions

  1. Begin with the 5-1/2″ x 10″ piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock. Score it at 1-3/4″ and 3-3/8″ from both ends.
  2. Fold along the score lines to create the two side sections of the open bay window.
  3. Add the four large panels of Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper to the folded sections. Use the two 1-1/2″ x 5-1/4″ pieces and the two 1-3/8″ x 5-1/4″ pieces where shown in the video.
  4. Adhere the 3″ x 5-1/4″ Very Vanilla panel to the inside center of the card.
  5. Score both 3/4″ x 10″ Very Vanilla bridge pieces at 1-3/4″ and 3-3/8″ from both ends.
  6. Cover the bridge sections with the smaller pieces of Sunflower Fields Designer Series Paper:
    • Two pieces measuring 1/2″ x 3″.
    • Four pieces measuring 1/2″ x 1-1/2″.
  7. Attach the bridge pieces to the card to form the open bay window. Watch the accompanying video for the exact cardstock placement and direction of the folds.
  8. Place the 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ Very Vanilla piece onto the hot foil system with a Copper Stampin’ Hot Foil Roll and the Framed & Fabulous Hot Foil Dies. Run everything through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, then die cut the foiled label.
  9. Save the remaining copper foil. Use the excess foil to cut the leaves and flower centers with dies from the Radiant Sunflower Bundle.
  10. Use the two flower dies from the Radiant Sunflower Bundle to cut the flowers from the 2″ x 3″ piece of Calypso Coral Cardstock.
  11. Place the die-cut flowers inside the Softly Woven 3D Embossing Folder and run them through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine again. This gives the flowers beautiful texture and dimension.
  12. Layer the copper-foil centers and leaves with the embossed Calypso Coral flowers. Use flowers on both the front and inside of the card.
  13. Stamp the greetings from the Radiant Sunflower Bundle using the Calypso Coral Classic Stampin’ Pad.
  14. Finish assembling the card as demonstrated in the video, making sure the bridge pieces allow the card to stand open and fold closed properly.

I love how this Open Bay Window Fun Fold displays all those beautiful layers while still giving you a lovely center area for your message. The copper hot foil adds just the right amount of shine!

Don’t fort to come back next Tuesday for another Fun Fold Card!
